Hi, I’m Katie, originally from Dublin, Ireland. I began practicing yoga in 2008 at a time when I was dedicated to improving my performance in rock climbing. Faced with the fear factor and physical demands of the sport, I discovered yoga as a powerful way to overcome these challenges. Since then, yoga has been a cornerstone of my sporting endeavors and beyond. As well as focusing on Yoga for sport, I’ve trained in Vinyasa, Yoga for Children, Pre- & Post-Natal Yoga, and Yin Yoga. To deepen my understanding of anatomy and sports performance, I also trained in Sports Massage.
As someone who found my passion for movement and sport as an adult, I know it’s never too late to start. I’m driven by helping adult athletes build confidence and uncover their abilities, and the rewarding experience of seeing them surpass their expectations. As an instructor, I focus on developing participants’ mobility through careful observation and clear feedback, so you can improve body awareness, posture, and movement patterns.
My approach to yoga is shaped by my love for outdoor sports. I’ve captained the University Rock Climbing Club, coached for Mountaineering Ireland, instructed surfing, and continue to dedicate myself to these pursuits alongside snowboarding, running both on the road & trail. A recent highlight was completing the Sierre-Zinal trail race. I also participated in my first Morzine Montriond Triathlon in 2023, inspired by the Buzz community! These experiences help me understand the demands of each sport, and design effective yoga classes targeting specific movements and muscle groups to optimize performance and prevent injury.
I believe mobility, coordination, and relaxation are essential components of any athlete’s training, and yoga is an effective tool for enhancing both performance and daily life.
