The number of open water swimming destinations include Lac Montriond, Lac Les Gets, Lac Annecy and Lac Leman all in close proximity along with its World Class Aquatic Centre based in a stunning location at an altitude of 1000 metres, make swim training a pleasure!
The town of Morzine has been put on the map, not just as a regular Tour de France stop off, but also for its beautiful scenery, epic climbs and blistering descents. The cycling is varied, beautiful and the road surface in France is second to none!
Running options in Morzine are endless and again varied. Following the River Dranse or lapping Lac Montriond will provide a nice flat trail running options, while Valley De la Manche, the Lindarets Bowl and Mont Chery provide equally scenic undulating and hill running options.
Summer in Morzine is simply stunning. After the winter snow melts away, the alpine meadows turn a vibrant lush green and are abundant with wildflowers and the lakes turn a brilliant blue colour. If you need something to take your mind off the training the scenery will certainly provide the escape you need.
The town itself is decked out with hanging baskets of flowers and there is a good selection of sports and gifts shops, creperies, patisseries and restaurants as well as the local weekly market.
The situation of Morzine makes it an ideal base for exploring the greater Portes du Soleil area. Within an hour’s drive and well worth a visit is the beautiful town of Annecy, the medieval town of Yvoire on the shore of Lake Geneva, Chamonix where a trip up the Aiguille Du Midi is a must and the thermal springs at Lavey Les Bains.
