Amelia is one of Ironman Triathlons fastest female swimmers. She clocked 48minutes for the 3.8km swim at Ironman Australia in 2011. That’s a speedy 1min15sec per 100m for long time….

Learning to swim at an early age and competing in Australia’s Surf Lifesaving competitions has certainly given her a solid base. With the help of coaches Vic Walton (Craig Walton’s father), Craig Redman, Darren Smith and Brett Sutton she has refined and fine-tuned an effective teaching technique that can be applied, with success, to anyone.

Take her husband Joe for example. Having dislocated both shoulders during his own sporting career, when he turned to triathlon, swimming was certainly his weakest leg. Told once to “stick to football” he spent many years swimming with little improvement. After 2 years of swimming in the Buzz squad with Amelia’s guidance (and with some extra tuition on the side), in the 2018 Ironman Italy he swam a very impressive 51.30. That’s a massive 23min30sec improvement from 1hour and 15minutes at Ironman Australia in 2017.
